Barbara is from Elmira and has raised her family here. She has a working background in both education and healthcare – with experience in special education and disability issues for all ages. Credentials include Certified Teacher of Ontario, Health Care Aide, and Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant. as well as professional development in special education, restorative care, gerontology and neuro-physiotherapy.
Barbara has volunteered with Girl Guides of Canada as a leader. She also served as the president of the Parent Council at her children’s school and on the Special Education Advisory Committee for her school board representing physical disability issues. She has also volunteered her time with KidsAbility in the swimming program and Spinners Wheelchair Activity Days, a program that encourages young people with a physical disability to experience different adapted sports. Swimming, biking and walking the trails of Elmira area are activities that enable her to enjoy the outdoors and community resources. Watching her grandchildren play soccer and hockey keep her busy. She loves reading, quilting and knitting for indoor enjoyment.
Barbara loves working with people and assisting them to improve their abilities in areas of mobility and functional independence.
