Neurological Physiotherapy

Physiotherapist Kaela Newman has focused some of her training on neurological recovery following injury and impairment.

Given the nature of these conditions, they require a different approach than common sports or work-related injuries. Kaela has taken courses that specialize in specific therapeutic techniques such as Bobath Concept and Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT). The focus of these treatment techniques are based on neurological theory and research that focuses on restoring movement patterns to optimize and regain mobility.

Conditions treated:

  • Stroke
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Guillain Barre Syndrome
  • ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
  • Peripheral Nerve Damage
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Other progressive neurological disorders

Neurological rehabilitation at Woolwich Physiotherapy is based on principles of neurophysiology and neuroplasticity that focuses on motor learning through facilitation, repetition and education.
