What else can physiotherapists help with?

Falls Prevention and Balance Training

This may be beneficial for older adults who have had recurrent falls or are noticing a decline in their balance or mobility. The physiotherapist can assess your current balance using standardized tests and create a treatment plan to help maintain and/or improve your balance. Physiotherapists can also help with decision making regarding the use of a mobility aid such as a cane, walker, walking sticks or a rollator, and advise on the size and use of such aids.

General Conditioning or Mobility

This may be beneficial for individuals who have had a prolonged hospital stay following an illness or surgery, or for individuals who have had a decline in overall mobility and strength due to pain, injury, lifestyle, life events or other reasons. A physiotherapist can help you regain functional movement that you use every day, for example, the ability to navigate your home, manage stairs, get up/down from a chair or bed, walk out to your garden etc.

Exercise Prescription

Our physiotherapists are knowledgeable in strength training and conditioning for a wide range of people. Physiotherapists can combine their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as their extensive background in exercise prescription to help build an exercise plan or workout routine to help you achieve your goals. They can also help modify your current exercise routines if you are dealing with pain or an injury.

Prevention

Do you have an early arthritic joint, a degenerative condition or are simply worried about declining balance or strength? Physiotherapists can help.
